Daniel Suarez is headed for the exits at Trackhouse Racing.
The organization announced Tuesday that it has mutually agreed to part ways with the Mexico-born driver at the end of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
The team did not name a replacement driver in an official news release. However, some industry experts believe Trackhouse will ultimately pick one of its development drivers — NASCAR Xfinity Series regular and JR Motorsports wheelman Connor Zilisch — to fill the seat of the No. 99 Chevrolet in 2026.
Daniel Suarez Made NASCAR History, For The Second Time, At Trackhouse Racing
Daniel Suarez, who joined Trackhouse Racing for its inaugural season of 2021, previously competed for Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing and Gaunt Brothers Racing. Over his four-and-a-half seasons at Trackhouse, Suarez has scored both of his two career NASCAR Cup Series wins (Sonoma 2022 and Atlanta spring 2024).
With his triumph on the Sonoma road course in Northern California, Suarez made history by becoming the first native of Mexico to prevail in a NASCAR Cup Series race. Suarez had already made history in 2016 when, in capturing the NASCAR Xfinity Series title, he became the first driver from Mexico win a championship in one of NASCAR’s national stock car series.
“The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever,” Trackhouse Racing team owner and founder Justin Marks said. “His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career.”
Marks offered nothing but praise for Suarez in announcing his forthcoming departure.
“We will forever be thankful and honored that Daniel chose to spend many incredible years with us,” he said.

Future Beyond Trackhouse Racing Is Unclear For Daniel Suarez
Daniel Suarez has struggled mightily in 2025, netting just three top-10 finishes in the season’s first half. He is 29th in the standings and winless — unlike teammates Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen, who’ve each secured a single playoff-clinching victory.
One of the few brights spots of this year for Suarez came last month when he prevailed in a cameo NASCAR Xfinity Series appearance for JR Motorsports in his home country of Mexico.
At this point, it’s only speculatory which team and which series Suarez might land with for 2026 and, possibly, beyond.
“I want to thank all the men and women at Trackhouse Racing for your love and support,” Suarez said. “I’ve had some of the best years of my Cup Series career at Trackhouse. We had great successes as a team, and I gained some incredible friends. We took a team nobody had even heard of in 2021 and, in just a couple of years, we were winning races and running up front on a weekly basis.”
Suarez will leave Trackhouse with great gratitude for what they accomplished together.
“Just like the seasons in a year, sometimes things change, and we have mutually agreed to each go in our own direction,” he said. “I wish Trackhouse nothing but the best. This No. 99 team will always be special to me. And like I always say: The best is ahead.”
