After 12 years in the NFL, is Hopkins ready to hang up his cleats?
Hopkins ended the retirement rumors on Tuesday with a since-deleted post on social media.
“Don’t know what you heard, but I’m not done yet,” Hopkins said.
Whether Hopkins intends to stick to his word will become clearer this offseason.
Hopkins is coming off a season where he started as a member of the Tennessee Titans. Before the deadline, the Titans traded Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.
Hopkins recorded 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games with the Chiefs.
Hopkins’ production declined significantly in the postseason. Hopkins recorded three receptions for 29 yards and one touchdown. The veteran caught his lone touchdown in the second half of a Chiefs 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
After the Super Bowl loss, Hopkins took to X and wrote, “Forever grateful to be part of the Chiefs organization. Didn’t complete the mission or play my best game but that’s life.”

Where Will DeAndre Hopkins Play In 2025?
DeAndre Hopkins’ father died in a car crash when he was just five months old.
One of the things he left behind was a mink jacket, and Hopkins always said he would wear it to either his wedding or the Super Bowl—whichever came first.

If Hopkins returns in 2025, which team will he play for?
With Hopkins set to become a free agent, it’s unlikely he will re-sign with the Chiefs due to his declining production.
A contending team that needs a veteran wide receiver could be interested in Hopkins’ services.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Commanders, and Hopkins’ former team, the Houston Texans, immediately come to mind.
Hopkins is the NFL’s active leader in receiving yards with 12,965.
