DeSean Jackson is taking his talents to the college game to become the head coach of the Delaware State Hornets.

DeSean Jackson Finalizing Deal To Coach Delaware State

Per Victory Formation’s Jeff Lightsy Jr., Jackson and Delaware State are finalizing a deal for the former NFL star to become their next head coach.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel later confirmed the news, saying Jackson has always dreamed of coaching an HBCU.

Jackson, 38, completed an on-campus interview within the last few days, and the deal is expected to be completed soon. During the 2024 season, Jackson was an assistant football coach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California.

Jackson takes over for Lee Hull, who was fired earlier this month after a 1-11 season.

Delaware State plays in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the FCS. The Hornets have not had a winning season since 2012.

DeSean Jackson Career As A Pro

Jackson was one of the most electrifying players in the NFL thanks to his game-breaking speed.

Picked in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, Jackson played 15 years with six teams: Philadelphia Eagles (2008–2013, 2019-2020), Washington Redskins (2014–2016), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2017–2018), Los Angeles Rams (2021), Las Vegas Raiders (2021), and Baltimore Ravens (2022).

Jackson finished his career with 641 catches for 1,145 yards and 58 touchdowns.

Jackson is best known for his tenure with the Eagles, making three Pro Bowls and one Second-team All-Pro. Jackson retired as a member of the Eagles after the 2023 season.

Jackson’s Eagles teammate, Michael Vick, was recently hired as the head coach of Norfolk State.
