De’Von Achane Set To Play For Dolphins On Monday Night

After a week of uncertainty surrounding his status, Miami Dolphins star running back De’Von Achane is expected to be available for Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dolphins Get Boost As Achane Expected To Play In Week 15

Achane’s availability had been in question following a rib injury suffered in Week 14, but the latest reports are positive for Miami’s offense heading into a critical late-season matchup. On Saturday, head coach Mike McDaniel said that he expects his star running back to be on the field in Pittsburgh.

Achane exited Miami’s 34–10 win over the New York Jets in the second quarter after taking a hit and landing on the football. The play left him with discomfort in his ribs, and he did not return for the second half. Initial concern revolved around the severity of the injury and whether it would linger into the Dolphins’ Week 15 game.

Thankfully for Miami, early optimism from the team’s medical staff appears justified. MRI results showed that Achane did not suffer a rib fracture, clearing the most serious worry and paving the way for his return to the field.

His presence is a major boost for Miami’s offense, where he leads the team and ranks among the league’s top rushers. Achane’s combination of speed, vision, and explosiveness has been a key reason the Dolphins have strung together wins and still have an outside shot in the AFC playoff chase.

Heading into the all-important Week 15 contest, the Dolphins are sitting at 6-7 after winning 5 of their last 6 games. Their postseason chances are still slim, and they would need to win out simply to have a small percentage chance of qualifying. It won’t be easy, as they have games against the Bengals, Buccaneers, and Patriots after they take on the Steelers, but Miami has been playing with their backs up against the wall for weeks now and have only found success since the start of October.

As of Saturday morning, the Dolphins were listed as 3-point underdogs for Monday night’s game.
