One year after Saquon Barkley signed with Philadelphia, the Eagles poached another member of the New York Giants, Azeez Ojulari, in free agency.

Azeez Ojulari Signs Giants

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ojulari and the Eagles have agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million contract.

In 2024, Ojulari registered six sacks for the Giants in 11 games, including five over a three-game stretch.

The Giants selected Ojulari in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The outside linebacker’s best season came during his rookie year. Ojulari set the Giants record for sacks by a rookie with eight in 2021.

Ojulari missed significant time in 2022 and 2023 due to injuries.

Ojulari played behind Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

After four seasons, the 24-year-old’s tenure with the Giants ends with 107 tackles and 22 sacks in 46 games.

Eagles Will Try To Rebuild Defensive Line

The defensive line was one of the reasons why the Eagles won Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Eagles sacked Mahomes six times in their 40-22 victory in the Super Bowl.

Edge rusher Josh Sweat and defensive tackle Milton Williams combined for 4.5 sacks in the Super Bowl victory.

However, the Eagles lost both players in free agency — Sweat signed with the Arizona Cardinals, and Williams ended up with the New England Patriots.

The Eagles still have Jalen Carter as the anchor of the defensive line. Nolan Smith Jr., Moro Ojomo, Josh Uche, Jalyx Hunt, and Ojulari will all work in the Eagles’ rotation of pass rushers.
