This article is not intended to imply there is anything but mutual admiration and respect between Grand Slam champion and 20-somethings Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. But if there was more, I would be okay with it.
Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz surprised many with their mixed doubles teaming at the upcoming reimagined US Open mixed doubles championship in August.
Raducanu is British and played last week at Queen’s Club so it was not a lengthy or out of the way trip for her to show up at Alcaraz’s straight set semifinal win over Roberto Bautista Agut. She also withdrew from this week’s Berlin Open with a back injury.

They have a lot in common, young stars with plenty of spotlight on them all of the time, and teenage Grand Slam champions. It is going to be so fun to track their performance in New York together and separately in late August.
The next question is if Raducanu will be back tomorrow when Alcaraz takes the court in the Queen’s Club championship against Jiri Lehecka who upset her compatriot Jack Draper. With the exception of Lehecka, everyone at Queen’s Club was hoping to see a Draper vs. Alcaraz final. (Draper defeated Alcaraz in the 2025 Indian Wells semifinals en route to his BNP Paribas Open win.)
Some expected Raducanu to team with Draper for US Open mixed doubles. (Draper is playing with Qinwhen Zheng.) Draper answered the question diplomatically and with minimal additional information as to why the two aren’t playing. He said that Raducanu picked well, and he wishes them good luck.
🗣️ “A wise person once told me to find the best partner and that’s exactly what she did in Alcaraz”
