Gentlemen, start your engines. Brad Pitt gets behind the wheel in the adrenaline-pumping F1. Can F1 race to the top of the box office? View F1’s opening weekend box office predictions and odds below.

What Is F1 About?

Sonny Hayes (Pitt) is “the greatest that never was.” The once-promising Formula One driver was a phenom in the 1990s before an accident nearly cost him his life.

Hayes left Formula One, and his career never recovered.

30 years later, Hayes receives a shot at redemption thanks to Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), his former teammate and current owner of the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).

With his team on the verge of collapse, Cervantes wants Hayes to join his team as a driver. More importantly, Cervantes wants Hayes to mentor Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s cocky rookie and most promising prospect.

Does Hayes still have what it takes to succeed on the track? He’ll find out soon enough as he navigates the high speeds and dangers of Formula One.

F1 also stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Sarah Niles, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia.

Joseph Kosinski directs F1 from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger.

F1 opens in theaters on June 27.

F1 is going to win the weekend box office. It’s a Pitt-led movie with lifelike stunts from the director of Top Gun: Maverick. That’s a winning formula, especially with adults.

M3GAN 2.0 could underperform, and 28 Days Later and Elio won’t have strong enough second weekends to compete with F1.

Polymarket has F1 slotted to open north of $55 million (-257).

However, the projections are all over the place. NRG has F1 earning $38 million domestically in its opening weekend.
