NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers

If there is such a thing as a must-win NHL game in November, that’s what the Boston Bruins face on Monday, November 18, 2024, as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 8-8-3 Bruins have been the subject of endless discussion with the theme being “something has got to give.”  Against the 6-9-2 Columbus Blue Jackets, many believe anything less than a win means a big change could be coming for the Bruins.

In the wake of all this, fans reacted to the Bruins falling behind 3-0 in the first period to the Blue Jackets. The Bruins committed a series of defensive blunders while missing scoring opportunities.

What Boston Bruins Fans Are Saying

According to 6ix Sports & Stuff, Montgomery’s imminent firing would not be a surprise after this game.

1993 LEAFS concurs.

Joseph Canari believes trades are imminent but begs the team not to trade the first-round pick this year which he believes could be a Top 10 selection.

Craig MacLeod agrees that this game could set in motion plans to make this team better.  He believes the Bruins can still be one of the best defensive teams in the league, particularly with the addition of Nikita Zadorov, consistent with their performance in recent years, but something has to change quickly for it to happen.

Fans at the game did their part to let the Bruins know it was time to shape up.  At the end of the first quarter, fans were stonefaced. Some were booing as the team went into the locker room.

Floundering against a nonplayoff team again is the common theme breaking the hearts of Bruins fans.
