Filip Forsberg records 12th career NHL hat trick

Nashville Predators centre Filip Forsberg of Ostervala, Sweden recorded his 12th career National Hockey League hat trick. He accomplished the feat in a 5-2 Predators win over the St. Louis Blues at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday.

Forsberg’s three goal game

Forsberg had a goal in each period. He opened the scoring at the 27 second mark of the first period. Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario and defenseman Brady Skjei of Lakeville, Minnesota had the assists. Forsberg then scored the game-winning goal at 5:31 of the second period. Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario and defenseman Roman Josi of Bern, Switzerland recorded the assists on the power-play to put the Predators up 3-1. Then Forsberg closed out the scoring from O’Reilly with an empty net goal with three minutes and 51 seconds left in the contest.

Forsberg’s 2025-26 NHL statistics

Forsberg has 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points in 32 games. He is a -1 with 18 penalty minutes, six power-play points, 101 shots on goal, five faceoff wins, 12 blocked shots, 65 hits, 19 takeaways and 45 giveaways.

Forsberg’s 12 NHL hat tricks

Forsberg has 12 NHL hat tricks all-time. He has 11 in the regular season and one in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Forsberg’s 11 NHL regular season hat tricks are tied for 90th in NHL history. Wayne Gretzky has the NHL record for the most hat tricks all-time with 50.

Forsberg’s 11 regular season hat tricks are the most in franchise history. He has the most hat tricks in Predators history by a wide margin. Steve Sullivan of Timmins, Ontario is second on the list with four.

Forsberg has the second most hat tricks among Swedish born players. The only Swedish born player with more hat tricks is Kent Nilsson of Nynashamn, who had 14 hat tricks with the Flames organization (Atlanta and Calgary) from 1980 to 1985.

Predators still struggling

Even with the win, Nashville only improved to a record of 13 wins, 15 regulation losses and four losses in extra time for 30 points. They have the second fewest points in the NHL. Only the Vancouver Canucks have fewer points as they have 27 points. Still, there is some hope in Tennessee. That is because the Predators have won seven of their last 10 games and are playing better as of late. One might wonder if that is enough to keep general manager Barry Trotz and head coach Andrew Brunette away from the hot seat.
