Thoughts About The US Open Mixed Doubles Field

This is an interesting group of players spanning in age from 18 years (Mirra Andreeva) to 45 years (Venus Williams).

The defending US Open champions: Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori would be perceived as the favorites.

However, Katerina Siniakova has won more doubles Grand Slams than anyone in the field (11 plus 2 Olympic gold medals) and is partnered with World No. 1 men’s singles player Jannik Sinner. Their first round match is against Belinda Bencic and Alexander Zverev.

Taylor Townsend is currently the World No. 1 in doubles and a two-time Grand Slam champion (with Siniakova). She has played with Ben Shelton before. The all-lefty team’s first round match is against Amanda Anisimova and Holger Rune.

Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz won the Eisenhower Cup at Indian Wells this year. They open against Errani and Vavassori.

Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz will attract massive fan interest; they play Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper in the first round.
