Frances Tiafoe

A smiling Frances Tiafoe was spotted at the BNP Paribas Open, also known as Indian Wells, wearing a shocking baseball cap.  The tournament’s social media site was the first to point it out.

Tiafoe grew up in the Washington Metropolitan Area and is a lifelong Washington Commanders fan so people were confused by his hat selection.  He quickly set the record straight as to why he was wearing an Eagles hat.

It seems he lost a bet to his American comrade, New Jersey native, and lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, Tommy Paul.

We wonder if it started around the time he gave this Australian Open interview to ESPN’s Rennae Stubbs hoping that his Commanders could stop the Eagles in the NFC Championship.  The Eagles soundly defeated the Commanders 55-23 en route to their second Super Bowl win in seven years.

That must have been some bet that Tiafoe lost.  He is probably waiting for his Commanders to dethrone the Super Bowl Champion Eagles to return the favor to Tommy Paul.

Despite wearing the Eagles hat, Tiafoe found a way to represent his team while engaging in fun shenanigans with Novak Djokovic.  Check out his Washington Commanders football.

It is all fun and games now, but Tiafoe will get down to business in his first-round match on Friday, March 7.  Novak Djokovic and Tommy Paul will also be in action.  Tommy Paul’s opponent is the only one known, he is American Tristan Boyer.
