The Los Angeles Chargers came into Sunday’s game against the New York Giants as 6-point road favorites. They were set to go up against rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in his first NFL start, and had a top-10 pass defense though the first three weeks of the season.
Jaxson Dart Leads Giants To Victory In First NFL Start
But the matchup between a 3-0 and 0-3 team didn’t go as planned for Jim Harbaugh and company, as Dart was able to lead his team to a huge victory in his pro debut.
The young pass thrower started off with a bang. After the Giants forced a 3-and-out to open the game, Dart led the Giants on a 9-play 89 yard drive that he capped off with a 15 yard touchdown run to give his team the lead. He would play well enough for the rest of the game to allow New York to keep the lead throughout, and threw his first NFL touchdown in the third quarter on a flip pass to Theo Johnson.

Jaxson Dart completed 13 of his 20 passes for 111 yards, including the one touchdown. He added 54 yards on the ground, and didn’t commit a turnover while helping the Giants to their first win of the season.
It has been a long time coming for Big Blue against Los Angeles. It was just the 8th matchup between the two franchises since 1990, and the Chargers had been victorious in the last five meetings. The last win for the Giants in the series since 1998. Dart wouldn’t be born for another five years.
As for the Chargers, they suffer their first loss of the season in the upset. Justin Herbert had been garnering early MVP talks, but threw two costly interceptions in the game, and finished with a quarterback rating of just 57.3.
Alas, Los Angeles will still be atop the AFC West regardless of the outcomes during the rest of the NFL weekend.
