Vegas Golden Knights right winger Pavel Dorofeyev of Nizhny Tagil, Russia has been named the NHL First Star of the Week for the period from October 6-12, 2025. Dorofeyev had five goals and zero assists for five points in three games. He currently leads all NHL players in goals this season with five. He also leads all NHL players in power-play goals with four.
Dorofeyev’s stats for the week
Dorofeyev was also a zero when it came to a plus/minus rating. He also had 12 shots on goal, one blocked shot and four giveaways.
Hat trick does not guarantee victory
Just because a player scored thrice in a game, does not mean his or her team will win. On Wednesday last week in the Golden Knights’s regular season home opener, Dorofeyev had a hat trick in a 6-5 Vegas shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings. All of Dorofeyev’s goals came in the second period. The first was even strength and unassisted. The next two were on the power-play with Jack Eichel of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts and captain Mark Stone picking up the assists.
It should be noted that Dorofeyev was not the only NHL player this week to have a hat trick and lose. Kyle Connor of Shelby Township, Michigan scored three times for the Winnipeg Jets in their season opener on Thursday, but Winnipeg lost 5-4 to the Dallas Stars.
Dorofeyev’s one goal that led to Golden Knights win
Dorofeyev once again scored from Stone and Eichel. This time it was in a Golden Knights victory, specifically on October 9 in a 4-3 Vegas overtime win over the San Jose Sharks. Dorofeyev tied the game at two with five minutes and 38 seconds left in the second period on the power-play.
Golden Knights have points in all three games
Dorofeyev scored his fifth goal of the season on Saturday in a 2-1 Golden Knights loss to the Seattle Kraken. The Golden Knights still managed to pick up a point as they lost in overtime. Once again, Stone and Eichel had the assists on a Dorofeyev power-play marker.
Flames up next
Vegas next plays Tuesday in Calgary. The Flames won their season opener by a score of 4-3 in a shootout in Edmonton this past Wednesday. That was followed by a 5-1 Calgary loss to Vancouver and a 4-2 Calgary loss to St. Louis.
