After years of speculation, Adam Sandler finally delivered a sequel for everyone’s favorite golfer in Happy Gilmore 2. While fans should love it, what will critics think? Below are the odds and predictions for the Rotten Tomatoes score of Happy Gilmore 2.

What Is Happy Gilmore 2 About?

It’s been nearly 30 years since Sandler donned the iconic Bruins jersey and Timberland boots on the golf course in 1996’s Happy Gilmore.

In the sequel, Happy (Sandler) is far removed from his playing days. It turns out that Happy abandoned the sport of golf entirely. Now, he spends most of his days caring for his family and drinking alcohol.

When his daughter needs money to attend a prestigious dance school, Happy grabs his clubs and heads to the course to try and win some tournaments. First, he’ll need to update his “Happy Place” to something more age-appropriate.

Besides Sandler, original Happy Gilmore stars returning for the sequel include Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, aka Bad Bunny, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, and Blake Clark join the cast.

There are so many cameos from professional golfers that it’s hard to keep up. Nelly Korda, John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris all appear in the movie.

Kyle Newacheck directs Happy Gilmore 2 from a script penned by Sandler and Tim Herlihy.

Happy Gilmore 2 streams on Netflix on July 25, 2025.

Because Happy Gilmore 2 is a Netflix movie, there will be no box office tally. Sandler’s popularity will certainly propel the comedy to the top spot on the streamer’s top 10.

The better question is how critics will review this movie on Rotten Tomatoes. Part of Sandler’s greatness is that he makes movies for fans, not critics.

Many of Sandler’s classics – including Big DaddyClick, 50 First Dates, Billy Madison, and The Waterboy — have rotten ratings.

Surprisingly, Happy Gilmore is Certified Fresh at 63%.

The Polymarket odds suggest Happy Gilmore 2 will be Rotten, with a score between 40 and 59 (+233).

Perhaps Sandler can go two-for-two with critics liking his golf movies.
