Arch Manning entered the 2025 college football season as the overall favorite to win the Heisman Trophy as the best player in the country. But the Texas quarterback has seen his stock drop immensely through the first three weeks, and there is a new favorite at the top of odds boards across the country heading into Week 4.
Carson Beck Is Now The Heisman Trophy Favorite
Beck began his collegiate career at Georgia, and won two National Championships as a backup in 2021 and 2022. He was solid as a starter in 2023 and 2024, but never quite lived up to the lofty expectations set for him to be one of the top quarterbacks in the game while playing for a national powerhouse program.
Injuries derailed the end of his stay in Athens, and it was thought that he’d enter the NFL Draft in April 2025. But he instead entered the transfer portal, and wound up at the University of Miami.

Beck entered the year as a long shot Heisman Trophy candidate, listed by most betting outlets at somewhere around +2000 (20-to-1 odds) to take home the hardware. But due to Manning’s struggles, Miami’s 3-0 record, and Beck’s 812 yards with a completion percentage of nearly 80%, he is now the slight favorite in many of the major sportsbooks.
According to BetMGM, Beck is now listed at +700 to with the Heisman, ahead of John Mateer at +900. FanDuel has Beck at +800, while DraftKings has Mateer as the slight favorite.
Dante Moore, Gunner Stockton, and Garrett Nussmeier are among those that are also near the top of the odds boards.
Can Miami Continue To Post Impressive Victories?
If Miami is able to continue their success as a team, Beck’s Heisman case will only grow. Their decisive win in Week 1 against Notre Dame got the Hurricanes off on the right foot, and they took down South Florida easily this past weekend. They have two more tough contests on the horizon, starting with the Florida Gators this coming Saturday.
If they are able to take down both the Gators and Florida State Seminoles in their next game, then Miami may actually rise into the ranks of being one of the National Championship favorites.
