Amidst the sweeping raids that have been taking place in Los Angeles and all over the country in recent weeks, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents attempted to gain access to the parking lots at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday.

But as the Dodgers themselves pointed out in a social media post, they were denied entry to the facilities.

In the morning hours Thursday, video showed ICE agents lined up on one of the streets leading up to the stadium. When asked about their intentions, the agency had no comment.

As the Twitter/X post by the team stated, the ICE agents requested permission to access the parking lots that surround Dodgers Stadium. They were denied entry to the grounds, and the evening’s game between Los Angeles and San Diego will go on as scheduled.

The incident comes amid a broader crackdown on immigration enforcement by the Trump administration—a move that has sparked widespread protests nationwide, and specifically across Southern California. In recent weeks, Los Angeles has become a focal point for demonstrations following a series of ICE operations that have left many local immigrant communities on edge.

It is something of a heel turn by the Dodgers when it comes to international affairs. Latin singer Nezza was scheduled to sing the National Anthem at a home game this past weekend, and was told by a team employee that the song must be sung in English. But she went out and performed in Spanish, defying the rules, which the singer says resulted in the team telling her that she wouldn’t be welcomed back to the stadium.

Kike Hernandez, who plays for the Dodgers, recently voiced his support of the international community with an Instagram post. “I am saddened and infuriated by what’s happening in our country and our city,” Hernández stated. “I cannot stand to see our community being violated, profiled, abused and ripped apart. ALL people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and human rights.”

The Dodgers are scheduled to take on the rival Padres on Thursday evening, and the game will go on as planned despite the reported incident.
