Is Danielle Collins Quietly Retiring From Professional Tennis?

The 2026 Australian Open women’s singles main entry draw list is out, and American Danielle Collins is not listed on it.

Collins is currently ranked 64th so she should definitely be on the 103 woman list.

She turned 32 earlier this week and has enjoyed her greatest Grand Slam success in Melbourne as the 2022 finalist.

Why Would Danielle Collins Not Be On The List?

Injury would be one reason, but with a month until the tournament kicks off, we probably would know if she is dealing with a serious injury issue. Generally speaking, the Australian Open is the tournament players are most healthy for, since it is at the beginning of the season, after December’s month-long layoff.

Despite playing some of the best tennis of her career winning the Miami Open and Charleston Open and going on a 12-match winning streak, Collins hinted at retirement in 2024 with intentions to begin her post playing life and potentially start a family. Those plans were put on hold when she came back to play in 2025.

She did stir controversy in Melbourne last year with an interaction with the fans following her defeat of Australian Destanee Aiava.

However, that friendly banter would not keep Collins away from Australia this year. Collins is a fiery player and dynamic personality, but that does not mean she would tell the world if she was planning to retire. She seemed uncomfortable talking about it in 2024.

It is worth noting that she is not on the WTA entry lists for Brisbane International, ASB, or Adelaide International which are the season-opening tournaments that serve as warm ups for the Australian Open.
