The AFC appears to be wide open this season with unproven teams at the top of the standings, and it could finally be the Buffalo Bills’ year to capitalize. But based on the current lines set by the oddsmakers at various sportsbooks, two other teams in the conference have shorter odds of winning the Super Bowl, and it could be due to the unknown nature of Josh Allen’s injury.
Bills Super Bowl Odds Shift After Loss & Josh Allen Injury
There was some concern heading into Week 17’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was limited in the Tuesday and Wednesday practices heading into the weekend, but was healthy enough to be made active for the late-season showdown against the defending champions.

In typical Josh Allen fashion, he attempted to fight through the issue. But as the game progressed, it was clear that he was being hampered by his right foot. After multiple plays on Sunday, Allen was seen clutching at the area and grimacing, and was shown walking to the sideline late in the game with a clear limp.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that the quarterback received x-rays after the contest, which showed no additional damage. He did mention that it would be a situation for the team to monitor, however.
A tough loss against a formidable opponent mixed with Allen’s lower leg issue has affected Buffalo’s Super Bowl odds. After coming into the week listed at +850 following four straight victories, they’re now listed at +1100 heading into the final week of the regular season. Both the New England Patriots (+900) and Denver Broncos (+750) have shorter designations, making the Bills third amongst AFC teams and seventh overall.
Heading into Monday Night Football, the sportsbooks say that the Los Angeles Rams have the best shot at winning it all. They have the shortest designation of any team at +475, though they are just slightly ahead of the division rival Seattle Seahawks at +500.
Josh Allen and the Bills are no longer hunting for a division crown, which has already been claimed by New England. But they have seeding to play for in Week 18, making the quarterback’s availability a big deal heading into the weekend. Luckily for Buffalo, they are slated to take on the lowly New York Jets to close out the regular season.
