Another Texas speedster is going for the 40-yard dash record.
Bond is confident he can beat Worthy’s record-breaking time of 4.21 in 2024.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow for sure,” Bond told reporters via Jim Wyatt. “I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly, if I’m feeling great, I might run a 4.1.”
Bond later told reporters that his best time leading up to this event was 4.23.
“I’ve been running my whole life,” Bond said via ESPN. “I’ve been one of the fastest my whole life, so I’m going to go out there, and when practice meets preparation, greatness is achieved. So I’m just going to trust my training and put on a show.”
Bond was a high school track star, excelling in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
Bond played for two seasons at Alabama before transferring to Texas ahead of the 2024 season.
Bond had a quiet season for the Longhorns, catching 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns.
The soon-to-be 21-year-old declared for the draft shortly after the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to Ohio State.
