In a statement shared on social media, Bond addressed the allegations:
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false. I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation. Unfortunately, claims like these prove to be harmful to all involved, absent full review. I kindly request that all reserve judgment until the authorities provide a complete report based on truth and evidence.”
Details surrounding the alleged incident have not been disclosed publicly.
Draft Stock in Jeopardy
Bond’s legal situation emerges just two weeks before the NFL Draft, potentially impacting his selection. Known for his speed and playmaking abilities, Bond recorded a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. His college career includes 99 receptions for 1,428 yards and 10 touchdowns over three seasons split between Alabama and Texas.
Despite his athletic prowess, some analysts have noted concerns about his size and durability. Prior to the allegations, Bond was considered a solid Day 2 prospect, with some projections placing him in the second round.
Awaiting Resolution
As the NFL Draft approaches, teams will closely monitor the developments in Bond’s case. His situation underscores the importance of character evaluations in the draft process. While Bond maintains his innocence and cooperates with the investigation, the outcome may significantly influence his professional football aspirations.
