Per the NFL, Chase has received a one-game suspension without pay for spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey.
“During the fourth quarter, Chase spit on Pittsburgh cornerback Jalen Ramsey, violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to ‘any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship,'” the league said in a statement announcing Chase’s suspension.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chase is appealing the suspension.
In a video shared by Austin Briski and FOX 19, cameras captured the altercation between Chase and Ramsey. Chase clearly spat on Ramsey, which prompted the cornerback to throw a punch.
After the game, Chase denied spitting on Ramsey. The Steelers’ cornerback also spoke to reporters after the game and shared his side of the story.
“I don’t give a f— about football after that, respectfully,” Ramsey told reporters via ESPN. “I’m always going to be all for trash talking, s— talking, stuff like that. I actually enjoy that part of the game. I think people know that.”

Aftermath of the Ja’Marr Chase Spit Incident
Ja'marr Chase is a liar and has no integrity. Look at what he says when he thought we couldn't see. Should be kicked out the league pic.twitter.com/H801YNTbCK

On Monday, coach Zac Taylor addressed the incident.
“I’ve always been impressed with how Ja’Marr has handled himself because he is in a lot of these situations where he’s got a target as a top player,” Taylor said. “He gets a lot of respect that way, so guys try to do a lot of things to get his attention and get him off his game. I’ve always thought it was unbelievable how he’s handled in some really high-pressure, emotional decisions. Obviously, what happened is crossing the line. We can’t have that, and I know he’ll own up to that.”
The Steelers defeated the Bengals 34-12 in a game that never felt close. Chase finished with three receptions for 30 yards.
At 3-7, the Bengals’ season is on life support. Quarterback Joe Burrow is practicing again, but there is no definitive return date. Week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night and Week 14 against the Bills are two dates being eyed for Burrow’s return.
By then, the Bengals’ postseason hopes might have ended.
The Bengals host the New England Patriots (9-2) in Week 12.
