Jayden Daniels throws the ball for the Washington Commanders.

Jayden Daniels set the league on fire in his rookie campaign in 2024. Daniels won the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

However, the 2025 campaign for Daniels has not gone as planned. It was anticipated that the Commanders would be Super Bowl contenders in Daniels’ second season. Washington is 3-4 after seven games, and Daniels has been unable to stay healthy this season. He already missed two games earlier this season due to injury and is now in danger of missing more time.

Daniels injured his hamstring in week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys. Here is the play in which Daniels suffered a hamstring injury.

Jayden Daniels Set For MRI On Injured Hamstring

Daniels recently returned from injury. He missed weeks 3 and 4 due to a knee injury. Daniels has been wearing a brace since his return.

A new injury occurred for Daniels in week 7, as shown above. This injury could force Daniels to miss more than two games. He will get an MRI done to see the severity of the injury.

This season has not gone as anticipated for Daniels and the Commanders.

Washington sits at 3-4 and could be without their star QB for the foreseeable future.

Can Washington Stay In Contention For A Playoff Spot Without Daniels?

The Commanders are 3-4 and sit third in the NFC East.

Here is a look at the remaining schedule for the Commanders.

  • Week 8: @ Kansas City Chiefs
  • Week 9: vs Seattle Seahawks
  • Week 10: vs Detroit Lions
  • Week 11: @ Miami Dolphins
  • Week 12: Bye week
  • Week 13: vs Denver Broncos
  • Week 14: @ Minnesota Vikings
  • Week 15: @ New York Giants
  • Week 16: vs Philadelpia Eagles
  • Week 17: vs Dallas Cowboys
  • Week 18: @ Philadelphia Eagles

This is a very challenging schedule for the Commanders before their week 12 bye.

Without possibly having Daniels, the Commanders would only be favored in one of their four games before their bye week. The only game the Commanders could be favored in without Daniels is in week 11 when they take on the Dolphins.

With Daniels, Washington would be favored in week 9 vs Seattle, but without Daniels, the Seahawks will be favored.

It will be tough for Washington to win more than just one game before their week 12 bye.

Without Daniels, the Commanders could be looking at a 4-7 record entering their week 12 bye.

Even after the bye week, whether Daniels returns or not, they have a tough schedule. After the bye, two matchups against the Eagles, a home contest against the Broncos, a road matchup against the Vikings, and a home matchup against the Cowboys are all challenging. Even the Giants have been much better since Jaxson Dart took over the starting QB role.

Philadelphia Eagles Have Clear Path To Win NFC East

  • Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
  • Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1)
  • Washington Commanders (3-4)
  • New York Giants (2-5)
  • With Jayden Daniels injured, the Eagles have a clear path to win the NFC East. The Commanders and Eagles still play twice, but if Daniels misses significant time, the Commanders will slip further in the standings.

Philly is healthy and snapped a two-game losing streak. The Eagles have a somewhat tough remaining schedule as well, but are getting healthier at the right time.

    • Week 8: vs New York Giants
    • Week 9: Bye week
    • Week 10: @ Green Bay Packers
    • Week 11: vs Detroit Lions
    • Week 12: @ Dallas Cowboys
    • Week 13: vs Chicago Bears
    • Week 14: @ Los Angeles Chargers
    • Week 15: vs Las Vegas Raiders
    • Week 16: @ Washington Commanders
    • Week 17: @ Buffalo Bills
    • Week 18: vs Washington Commanders

It is no cake walk for the Eagles with their remaining schedule, but they are in a much better spot than the Commanders health-wise.

Philly has a win over the Cowboys already.

The NFC East is Philadelphia’s division to lose.
