Jaylen Waddle Responds To New York Giants Trade Rumors

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, there will be rumors flying around the league for the next couple of weeks. One of the teams mentioned as potential deadline sellers are the Miami Dolphins, who may be willing to part with valuable players in order to help a potential rebuild. Jaylen Waddle has been one of the names mentioned, and there are reports that the New York Giants are interested in the wide receiver.

Jaylen Waddle Answers Questions About Giants Interest

Perhaps unexpectedly, the Giants have showed promise over the last few weeks. Jaxson Dart has been one of the biggest stories in the league since becoming the team’s starting quarterback, and the rookie and his team hit the national spotlight in their win over the Philadelphia Eagles last week.

But thanks to the season-ending injury to budding star wideout Malik Nabors, New York is reportedly on the search for pass catchers. The stable of weapons surrounding Dart is currently lackluster when it comes to overall potential, and bringing in a player to help replace Nabors’ production appears to be a high priority.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Waddle is on their radar.

Acquiring the 26-year-old wide receiver would not only give Dart a new no. 1 target for the rest of the season. When Nabors returns next season, the Giants would have one of the better pass catching duos in the league going forward.

The rumors made it all the way into the Dolphins’ locker room. During a post-practice interview on Thursday, Waddle was questioned about the situation, and he claimed that his focus was on the team’s upcoming game against Cleveland. He was then asked if it was hard to ignore the chatter on social media:

“Not really. I really don’t see too much. If my agent or anything don’t contact me, then, I don’t see too much.”

As far as compensation in a potential deal, there have been some ideas thrown about. It is unlikely that Waddle will fetch Miami a first round pick in a trade, but a package including, say, second and fourth round picks could get the job done.

Through six games this season, Jaylen Waddle has caught 29 passes for 390 yards and has scored three touchdowns.
