Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets have agreed to terms on a contract extension. View the record-breaking details below.

Garrett Wilson Signs New Deal

Mr. Wilson has a new deal.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the talented wide receiver agreed to a four-year, $130 million contract extension to remain with the New York Jets. Wilson’s deal includes $90 million guaranteed.

Wilson had two years remaining on his rookie contract, including a fifth-year option in 2026 worth $16.8 million. The former first-round pick — No. 10 in the 2022 NFL Draft — is now under contract with the Jets through the 2030 season.

Wilson has only played three seasons with the Jets. He becomes the first wide receiver in NFL history to make an average annual salary north of $31 million after only playing for three seasons.

Wilson’s average salary per year is $32.5 million.

Wilson’s extension is the first time since 2011 that the Jets have extended a first-round pick after three seasons.

Wilson has put up consistent production despite having a revolving door at quarterback. Wilson has at least 83 receptions and 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons. In 2024, Wilson registered career highs in receptions (101), yards (1,104), and touchdowns (7).

Despite his improved production in 2024, there was clear tension with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rumors started percolating that Wilson would request a trade.

The new regime of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey released Rodgers and then signed Justin Fields, Wilson’s former college teammate at Ohio State.

With Wilson signed, the Jets will turn their attention to re-signing Sauce Gardner, the team’s All-Pro cornerback drafted fourth overall in 2022.
