Joey Logano isn’t spending the offseason as the reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, as he has three times in the last seven years. Nevertheless, the Team Penske driver is still getting plenty of attention.
To understand how this could possibly be, one need look no further than Logano’s brand new haircut.
And quite the cut it truly is.
Joey Logano’s Hair Being An Object Of Discussion Is Nothing New
Before revealing Joey Logano’s new can’t-miss-haircut, a little context seems in order. Specifically, Logano has for many years dealt with alopecia areata — an autoimmune disease most widely known for causing patchy hair loss.
In December 2022, Logano, who had grown noticeably balder in the months prior, told the NASCAR world that he’d found a solution for his condition.
That solution was Xtrands+, a non-surgical hair system from HairClub that blends new hair with one’s existing hair to get their desired look.
So, when Logano showed up for the 2023 NASCAR season, three months removed from winning his second Cup Series title, he had significantly more hair than he did at the end of the 2022 season.
But even before arriving at Daytona with his new locks, Logano made everyone aware that he’d found a way to replenish his rapidly receding hairline. Check out his explanation — and the pure joy written all over his face — in the video below.
For years I’ve battled with alopecia and early hair loss. Many don’t notice since I wear a hat or helmet most of the time. I decided to do something about it and I couldn’t be happier. So, What Did Joey Logano Just Recently Do To His Hair?
Well, say goodbye to Joey Logano’s head full of hair. It’s gone. Long gone.
In fact, the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and 37-time Cup Series race winner has shaved his head completely bald.
After setting the Internet on fire earlier in the week after being spotted completely sans locks while attending a groundbreaking ceremony in Huntersville, North Carolina, Logano decided on Thursday to go ahead and offer an explanation for his radically different look.
He did so in a video message he shared to his various social media channels. You can watch the video for yourself below.
Appreciate everyone reaching out and checking in after seeing my new look. Thankful for all the text, calls and messages. pic.twitter.com/PcKvrzxKNr

“Hey, I’ve got a bunch of text messages and DMs lately about my new haircut,” Logano said. “A lot of people were concerned if I was OK. First off, I appreciate everyone asking if I was OK. I am fine. I am perfectly healthy. Just wanted to get a haircut at the end of the season.”
Then, Logano reminded everyone of his autoimmune disease.
“I have alopecia, which I’ve had for a long time now,” the 35-year-old married father of three said. “And so when we were cutting (my hair), it was all flared up, and so it was all spiked. So, we just kept cutting it. And now I’ve got a new ’do.
“I’m good. Like I said, I appreciate everyone caring. I didn’t think it would be this big of a story, but after getting so many text messages, I felt like I probably should let everyone know I’m alright. So, that’s all this is.”
