Warriors Jonathan Kuminga Trade Rumors - 3 Teams Have Different Levels of Interest

Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is drawing trade interest from a trio of teams.

Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports reported Wednesday that the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and Washington Wizards “all have different levels of interest” in Kuminga.

Warriors Refusing To Trade Jimmy Butler

Prior to the season, Kuminga finally agreed to a two-year, $46.8 million deal with the Warriors to end a prolonged contract standoff. As part of the deal, he waived his inherent no-trade clause.

The club option in the second year is designed for either Golden State or another team if and when Kuminga is traded before the Feb. 5 deadline this season.

Although Kuminga is expected to be moved, Johnson added that the Warriors “haven’t shown any interest in trading” veteran wing Jimmy Butler just a year after acquiring him.

The Dallas Mavericks have also inquired about Kuminga, per Johnson.

However, the Mavs aren’t interested in Draymond Green, whose multi-year contract would be needed in a trade deal to acquire Anthony Davis, who’s earning $54.1 million this season.

Per Spotrac, Green is making $25.89 million this campaign. His deal includes a $27.67 million player option for 2026-27. This is part of the four-year, $100 million contract he signed with the Warriors in July 2023.

Jonathan Kuminga Could Remain In Bay Area

Teams around the league are pursuing Kuminga, but there’s a chance that a trade doesn’t happen.

While the Kings are viewed as “the most interested suitor” for the 6-foot-7 wing, the Warriors “have not made substantial movement toward getting a Kuminga trade in place,” according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

“Team sources have said in recent days that they’d be willing to keep Kuminga past the deadline if nothing appealing enough materializes.”

After starting the first 12 games of the season, Kuminga was demoted to a bench role due to missed shots and turnovers. He was then sidelined for seven games because of bilateral knee tendonitis.

Following a return to action in late November, Kuminga appeared in four games in a row, making another start on Dec. 6 in Cleveland, but he has been listed as DNP in 11 of Golden State’s past 14 games.

The former first-round pick hasn’t played since Dec. 18 at Philadelphia.

Through 18 appearances (13 starts) this campaign, Kuminga is averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, a career-high 2.4 turnovers, and 24.8 minutes per outing while shooting a career-low 43.1% from the field.
