Josh Allen Would Earn $1.5 Million If He Wins The NFL MVP Award
One of the accolades missing from Josh Allen’s career resume is an NFL MVP award. He is currently favored to win in what is a tight race against Lamar Jackson, on the verge of nabbing the honors away from the two-time MVP Ravens quarterback.
But it isn’t just the hardware that Allen would take home. He’d also earn a cool $1.5 million if he were to be named MVP.
Josh Allen Wins A Big Bonus If He Is The NFL MVP
Most of the incentives in Allen’s contract with the Bills are based on team performance. He earns extra money for should his team achieve AFC Championship and Super Bowl victories, and would have taken home $2.5 million if Buffalo had gotten the #1 seed in the playoffs. But the lone individual incentive is for being named the Most Valuable Player, which is a recurring incentive for the full 6-year term.
He’s never won, but Allen has gotten close a few times. The 2020 season was his nearest miss, as he finished second to Aaron Rodgers that year. In 2022, he finished in third place, and got the 5th most votes last season. If the betting odds and probability predictions are correct, he’ll finally break through this year to win the award in addition to his bonus payout.

2024 wasn’t Josh Allen’s most productive season of his NFL career. He finished with his lowest passing yards and touchdown totals in the last five years, and his rushing stats aren’t as impressive as they have been in year’s past. But the difference in his performance this season was his cut down on turnovers. After throwing 18 interceptions in 2023, he cut that number down to 6 in 2024, cleaning up one of the mistakes that may have lost him the MVP award in recent years.
If you ask Allen himself, he’ll tell you that he cares more about his team’s success. The Bills have been one of the top teams in the NFL over the past few seasons, but have come up short year after year in the postseason, often in heartbreaking fashion. They once again have high hopes for the upcoming playoffs, having defeated two of the top teams in the league this year in the Chiefs and Lions. They’ll host a wild card game as the #2 seed in the AFC.
