After another disappointing performance from Justin Fields, are the New York Jets considering a change at quarterback?
Justin Fields Disappoints vs. Patriots
The Jets are averaging a league-low 139.9 passing yards per game. That would be the lowest in the NFL since the 2022 Bears (130.5). Common denominator: Justin Fields at QB. #Jets

The Jets kicked off Week 11 with a 27-14 loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
After the Jets opened the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown, the Patriots scored 21 unanswered points to grab hold of the lead and never let go.
The Jets’ offense continues to struggle. The Jets were outgained 336 yards to 245 yards by the Patriots.
The passing game has been a problem for the Jets all season. After managing 105 yards through the air, the Jets’ pass offense is averaging 139.9 yards per game, the lowest in the NFL.
Per Rich Cimini, 139.9 is the lowest in the NFL since the 2022 Bears. Fields is the common denominator as the quarterback for both teams.
Fields’ athletic ability continues to shine. The 26-year-old has rushed for 383 yards and four touchdowns this season. Fields’ arm has been the bigger issue.
Fields finished 15 of 26 for 116 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Fields has thrown for less than 200 yards combined in his last two starts.
This season, Fields has thrown for less than 100 yards in four of nine starts. That’s not what you want to see from your starter in a league that rewards and protects quarterbacks.
Will Aaron Glenn Make a QB Change?

2025 is a lost season. At 2-8, the Jets will not make the postseason.
The team is already building for the future, as evidenced by trading away cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
Will the Jets move on from Fields? The quarterback signed a two-year, $40 million contract during the 2024 offseason. At that manageable number, the Jets will likely keep Fields and draft a quarterback for 2026.
Before 2026, the Jets still have to get through this season. Because of his recent struggles, would Aaron Glenn consider making a quarterback change?
While speaking with the media on Friday, Glenn addressed a question about Tyrod Taylor and if he would start in place of Fields.
“I’m evaluating everything,” Glenn said via Jets.com. “I’m evaluating myself, the players, schematics, coaches, I’m evaluating everything. So, I don’t want to just place everything on that, that one situation [quarterback]. I’m just looking at everything, because as a head coach, that’s my job, to make sure that I put this team in the best position to go win games.”
A quarterback change could potentially spark the team. At the very least, it gives the opposing defense a different look. Glenn believes there’s more to a quarterback change than benching the starter.
“You hear that quite a bit when you get these quarterback changes, it is, ‘Man, I’m trying to get a spark for the team,’ “he said. “But to me it’s more or less, I’m trying to make the best decision to give our guys a chance to win. Because to me, a spark is really a short-term deal. And I don’t know if this is what other coaches’ decisions are, but I want to make the decision to give us a chance to win. Then whatever that evaluation process is has come out to just know that the reason why I make decisions that I make is because it gives us the best chance to win.”
