Ken Rosenthal Provides Some MLB Trade Deadline Updates

Ken Rosenthal provided several updates before the MLB trade deadline.

Here are the updates he provided:

  • Emmanuel Clase’s gambling situation increases the chances of the Guardians trading Shane Bieber and possibly Steven Kwan
  • The Milwaukee Brewers have shown interest in Ryan O’Hearn
  • Texas Rangers want to add a right-handed bat and a high-leverage reliever
  • Pittsburgh Pirates GM Ben Cherington’s job is in serious limbo
  • The Chicago White Sox want a team’s top 10 prospect in any trade involving Luis Robert Jr.
  • DJ LeMahieu plans to wait until after the trade deadline to sign with another team

It is also important to note that Eugenio Suarez was injured on Monday, but X-rays came back negative on his hand. The Detroit Tigers have been heavily linked to Suarez. It remains to be seen how long Suarez will miss, but it is encouraging that he stated the X-rays were negative.

Emmanuel Clase’s situation may encourage the Guardians to be sellers at the deadline and trade starting pitcher Shane Bieber and OF Steven Kwan.

Ryan O’Hearn would be a nice addition to the Brewers. He provides a solid left-handed bat, which the Brewers could use. Adding another starting pitcher would be beneficial for the Brewers as well.

The Texas Rangers have been one of the hottest teams in the league recently. They are fighting for a wild-card spot and are just a few games back from first in the AL West. Adding a right-handed bat and relief pitcher would boost Texas’ chances of making the postseason.

Pittsburgh is in shambles, and it would not be surprising if they clean house. Before the season, the Pirates had hopes of making the playoffs, but they have been a disaster once again this season. Despite having the best pitcher in the NL, Pittsburgh is in last place in its division. They have no hope of making the playoffs.

The Chicago White Sox are demanding a lot in return for Luis Robert Jr. This may make it a little more challenging to find a suitor.
