Kevin Durant Earns A Big Bonus For Making 15th All-Star Team
Durant is the fourth-highest paid player in the NBA this season. The third of his four-year deal has him set to earn $51,179,021, but had the opportunity to make more thanks to his contract incentives. For each of the four seasons under his current deal, the marks that he must meet are pretty straight forward. Durant must achieve just one of the following milestones in order to qualify: Suns make the playoffs, Suns win at least 43 games, Durant appears in at least 39 games, Durant makes the All-Star team.
He has made it to the plateau in each of the past two years, and earns the bonus this year thanks to his All-Star nod. This year, the built-in incentive is worth $1,323,000.
Of the ten players named for the starting lineups on Thursday, only Kevin Durant had any sort of incentive built into his contract, according to Spotrac.

He is having his usual productive season, but Durant is having trouble pulling the rest of his team along. The Suns are 22-21 through the first 43 games of their schedule, good enough for the 10th seed and final spot in the play-in tournament. They’ve been involved in trade rumors that have them bringing in another star in order to try yet another different approach, and we are quickly approaching the February 6th deadline.
Along with Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Nikola Jokic were named as the frontcourt starters for the Western Conference. Joining them will be Stephen Curry and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
In the East, Jalen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Karl-Anthony Towns make up the starting five.
