Kyler Murray runs with the ball.

Kyler Murray, once the celebrated No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, still finds himself at a pivotal juncture in his career. After an explosive rookie season and multiple Pro Bowl nods, he has begun to fall out of favor with the Arizona Cardinals, and his future with the team is in serious doubt going forward.

Murray has been sidelined with a mid-foot injury and placed on injured reserve, making him ineligible to return for at least the next several games. Meanwhile, veteran backup Jacoby Brissett has taken the reins and led the offense to increased productivity, which has raised questions about Murray’s standing.

On the financial side, Arizona faces difficult decisions. Murray’s contract includes substantial guaranteed money, and cutting or trading him entails serious cap consequences. With both performance and economics in play, Murray’s time in Arizona appears to be nearing its end.

3 Possible Destinations For Kyler Murray In 2026

Which teams are the most likely to land Kyler Murray during the coming offseason? The oddsmakers at BetOnline have released the numbers, and we take a look at the top three:

Pete Carroll stands on the field and stares.

Las Vegas Raiders (+250)

It is growing more apparent with each passing week that the Geno Smith experiment in Las Vegas was a failure. Through his nine games with the Raiders thus far, Smith has posted a 2-7 record and has thrown more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (11). There hasn’t been any change at the position, though, especially given that Smith has former ties to current head coach Pete Carroll.

At the moment, they are the odds on favorites to be the next NFL home of Kyler Murray. The hope would be that he is able to provide some stability at quarterback for the Raiders, who have looked lost at the position since Derek Carr left after 2022. But would Las Vegas be willing to give up the necessary compensation when they have so many other holes on the roster to fill?

New York Jets (+300)

The Jets will be one of the teams to watch this upcoming offseason, especially after their flurry of deals at the trade deadline that netted them a load of draft assets. They’ll be one of the teams on the search for their quarterback of the future, and they have the capital to be able to find their future signal caller via the draft.

But what if they decide to trade a pick or two for a veteran QB? Murray would fit the bill, and New York should have the cap space to be able to absorb what is left on his contract. And it may be a solid offensive situation for whoever the team brings in, especially if they hold on to weapons like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

New Orleans Saints (+400)

The Saints have cycled through quarterbacks ever since Drew Brees retired following the 2020 NFL season, and have continued to do so this year. Both Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough have taken snaps for New Orleans during the first half of the season, and neither appears to be the long-term answer that the team is looking for at the position.

With their salary cap situation still messy, it would take some re-working of the roster to be able to bring Murray in. But he may be one of the best options for the team going forward, unless they believe that they can fix their quarterback woes via the draft within the next couple of years.
