After picking up a victory in the opening week of the season, the Las Vegas Raiders have since lost five of their last six games. But there isn’t any panic by the ownership, as Mark Davis was recently quoted as saying that it’s too early to make “harsh reality decisions”, and he himself has the blueprint for patience.
Raiders Showing Patience, Could Draw Inspiration From Las Vegas Aces
Along with his ownership of the Raiders, Davis owns the local WNBA team as well. The Las Vegas Aces have been one of the most successful teams in women’s basketball over the last seven years. They’ve made it to the league semi-finals in each season since 2019, and have won three of the last four WNBA championships, including the most recent.
But halfway through the 2025 season, things didn’t look good for the Aces. After entering the season as one of the favorites to win it all, Becky Hammon and her team had a losing record at 9-11. They were on the fringes of the playoff picture at the time, and they looked like anything but the dominant team that they’d been in the recent past.

The team showed patience, and it paid off. The Aces turned things around drastically, winning 21 of their final 24 games, including a 16-game winning streak to close out the season. They entered the postseason seeded in the second spot, and eventually won the championship in a sweep of the Phoenix Mercury.
As Dianna Russini reported in her most recent piece for The Athletic, Davis is willing to relate the Aces’ situation to the current one for the Raiders. He is hoping that the same model of hiring people and letting them do their job will result in a turnaround in the second half of the NFL season.
Las Vegas is currently in last place in the AFC West with a record of 2-5. They are currently in their bye week, which couldn’t have come at a better time. The team and coaching staff have plenty of work to do if they hope to have any success in their upcoming games, and had perhaps their worst performance of the season in their most recent game; against the Chiefs in Week 7, the Raiders lost 31-0, and gave up as many first downs on defense as they had total plays on offense.
They will be back in action on November 2nd when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
