LeBron James Creeping Up On 50k Total Points For His Career

LeBron James continues to etch his name in the NBA record books, and should reach a massive milestone in the coming days by eclipsing the 50,000 total points mark for his career.
LeBron James Needs 106 Points To Hit 50k Total In His Career
We are a couple of years removed from James becoming the all-time leading scorer in league history. He passed the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar back in February 2023, who had held the title since his retirement back in 1989, finishing his career with 38,387 regular season points.
LeBron has already added well over 3,000 to his total in the time since, and should reach 42,000 before the conclusion of the current season. But there is another massive milestone that the 40-year-old James is creeping up on, which includes his prolific postseason career and the points that he’s racked up in playoff games.
In addition to the 41,732 regular season points that he currently has on his resume, James has scored 8,162 postseason points in 287 games. That not only gives him the highest total in NBA history, but it is better than 2,000 points higher than the player in second place (Michael Jordan).
LeBron is 131 points away from being the only player ever to reach 50k career points.

Combined with his regular season scoring, LeBron James has 49,894 total points scored in his career. That puts him 106 points away from the incredible mark of 50,000 total points scored.
It is a number that won’t be touched any time soon, if at all. James has continued his assault on the record books by averaging 20+ points in every one of his 22 NBA seasons. In fact, the only sub-25 points per game average came during his rookie year. It would take another player having a career of 20+ seasons and an average of well over 25 points per game in order to even come close.
As of now, there is no active player that stands any kind of chance of reaching James’ scoring numbers. Kevin Durant is 36 years old and in his 17th NBA season, and he is nearly 12,000 points behind LeBron’s regular season scoring record, and another 4,000+ behind in the playoffs.
When will LeBron James hit the 50k mark? He needs 106 points, and is averaging just shy of 25 per game this season. That means he is on pace to achieve the milestone early in the game during the March 4th home contest against the Pelicans. It is very likely that he’ll do it at home, too, as each of the Lakers’ next six games will be played at Crypto.com arena.
