ESPN senior writer Brian Windhorst and salary cap analyst Bobby Marks reported on July 10 that James informed the Los Angeles Lakers last month he intends to play his 24th season elsewhere.
He averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds on 51.5 percent shooting last season. At 41, he can still move the needle for a contender.

The Heat pitch is legitimately terrifying on paper. James, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in the same frontcourt represents a defensive and fast-break combination the league has never seen.
There are real concerns around spacing and shooting, and the asset cupboard is bare after the trade that brought Antetokounmpo over from Milwaukee. The offensive system Miami has installed largely eliminates pick-and-rolls, a play James has built his game around for two decades.
