Playing for the Los Angeles Lakers is apparently a key component in increasing your overall popularity. At least it has been for Luka Doncic, who now has the top-selling jersey in the NBA after his trade from the Dallas Mavericks.

Luka Doncic Leads The NBA In Jersey Sales In 2024-25

Steph Curry and LeBron James have dominated the category. The two aging stars have been the unofficial faces of the league for well over a decade now, and their jersey sales prove it. Every year since 2012-13, one of Curry or James has had the top-selling jersey in the NBA, and that remained the case during the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

As of late January, Curry had the top spot, followed by James and Jayson Tatum.

But that has all changed in the months since. The Lakers pulled off a shocking trade in early February that saw them acquire young superstar Luka Doncic to pair with James, and the results on the court have been positive. The trade has not only turned Los Angeles into a legitimate title contender, but has it has also boosted the popularity of Doncic amongst NBA fans.

Before the trade, he had the 8th-best selling jersey in the league. But according to a report released following the final day of the regular season, no other jersey sold more than Doncic’s over the past couple of months.

Curry and James are still numbers 2 and 3 on the list, giving the Lakers two players in the top three. Jayson Tatum has been pushed down to number 4, and Jalen Brunson rounds out the top five.

Doncic is the first international player to ever top the list, but the 6 through 11 spots are dominated by foreign players. Victor Wembanyama’s jersey is the 6thbest-selling and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (9th), Nikola Jokic (10th), and Giannis Antetokounmpo (11th) are all a part of that group.

The NBA has reported a 21% increase in jersey sales overall since the trade deadline, which is dominated by Doncic’s influence.
