Amazon MGM Studios unveiled the official teaser trailer for Madden, an upcoming sports biopic starring Nicolas Cage as John Madden.

“There’s only one John Madden,” Christian Bale’s Al Davis says in the teaser.
Cage stars as the titular Madden, the Hall of Fame coach who won Super Bowl XI with the Oakland Raiders. Madden primarily focuses on the coach’s life after retiring in 1978, when he arguably became the sport’s most legendary broadcaster.
During the teaser, Madden shows off his unique personality in the broadcast booth as he draws his analysis on a whiteboard.
While in the booth, Madden would make an even greater impact on pop culture thanks to his involvement in the Madden NFL video game series.
Bale stars as Al Davis, the charismatic owner of the Raiders. Together, Madden and Davis formed one of the league’s most iconic partnerships.
“Football wouldn’t be football without him,” Davis says of Madden.
Madden’s ensemble cast also stars Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, John’s wife; John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts, the company behind the Madden NFL video game series; Sienna Miller as Carol Davis, Al’s wife; Joel Murray as Pat Summerall, Madden’s broadcast partner for many years; and Shane Gillis, who plays an undisclosed character.

Academy Award nominee David O. Russell directs Madden from a script he wrote, based on an earlier draft by Cambron Clark.
Russell and Bale are frequent collaborators, having worked on The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and Amsterdam. Bale won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Fighter.
Producers include Russell, Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Jonathan Shukat, and Steve Tisch.
Madden hails from Amazon MGM Studios. However, the movie is being billed as a Prime Video original. It’s unknown if Madden will receive a theatrical release or stream directly on Prime Video.
Madden will be released on Thanksgiving 2026.
