Casper Ruud

In the super brief tennis offseason that lasts about a month, tennis players are most apt to get married or engaged.   That is the case for Madison Keys and Casper Ruud.  Keys married longtime boyfriend and coach Bjorn Fratangelo over the weekend with many players in attendance.  A more intimate encounter happened with Casper Ruud who proposed to his girlfriend Maria Galligani on the beach.

Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo had a beautiful wedding in Charleston, South Carolina.  Her American peers Jessica Pegula, Sloane Stephens, Taylor Towsend, and Jennifer Brady attended the event and shared photos and videos.

Keys and Fratangelo have been dating since 2017 and engaged since 2023 so this event was a long time coming.  The social media photos and videos show an elegant event with plenty of smiling faces excited for the happy couple.

Casper Ruud

Casper Ruud’s season lasted into November culminating in an appearance at the ATP Finals where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz for the first time in his career.  The 25-year-old Norwegian did not waste time getting into a celebratory way in his offseason with a beachside proposal.  Ruud is all business on the court and rarely shows much emotion so seeing this side of him was a nice change.

Both couples have little time to spare.  The 2025 Australian Open begins in mid-January.  Keys, 29, was injured in 2024 and did not play in Melbourne.  It will be interesting to see if she delays the start of her season for an extended honeymoon and vacation.  She has played professional tennis since 2009.  Keys is a 2017 US Open finalist and a former World No. 7 ranked player.

One of Ruud’s least successful Grand Slams is the Australian Open.  His best finish was the fourth round in 2021.  Ruud is more known for his clay court play and has made it to the semifinals or better at the French Open for three straight years.  He was also the 2022 US Open finalist and achieved his career high World No. 2 ranking at that time.
