“He is aura.”
Those three words uttered by broadcaster John Fanta are the perfect way to describe Khan.
The McNeese Cowboys’ 22-year-old student manager is riding high after a month in the spotlight.
In February, Khan went viral after walking the McNeese players down the hallway while wearing a giant boombox and rapping the lyrics to Lud Foe’s In & Out.
Khan and the McNeese Cowboys have relished in the spotlight. The No. 12 Cowboys upset the No. 5 Clemson Tigers 69-67 on Thursday.
After the game, Fanta spoke with Khan after McNeese’s first NCAA Tournament win in school history. For now, Khan is happy to enjoy the ride.
“I never expected any attention really as a manager,” Khan told Fanta. “So to receive all the love and support I’ve received over the last few weeks. It means a lot to me. But I’m really just focused on trying to do what I do for the team and helping them so they can do what they do on the court.”
Sincere Parker interrupted the interview to vouch for Khan as a manager.
“This is really my mans! He’s in the gym early every day, getting rebounds. He’s for real,” Parker said. “When he said he had Wilt Chamberlain numbers, he really did. Tell ’em, boy.”
