Maria Taylor Becomes NBC’s Top Studio Host For NBA/WNBA Coverage

With the NBA and WNBA heading to NBC and Peacock this fall, the network has named Taylor as the lead studio host.

Taylor will host NBC Sports’ NBA studio programs on Sunday and Tuesday nights with analysts Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter.

Taylor will also anchor the network’s WNBA coverage beginning in the spring of 2026.

“I’m deeply honored to be part of NBC Sports’ incredible legacy covering the NBA and to return to the game that first captured my heart, women’s basketball,” said Taylor in a statement. “To know that I’ll spend the next five years with my NBC family telling the stories of the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the NBA Playoffs, and the WNBA Finals is more than a dream come true — it’s a full-circle moment.”

Taylor joined NBC Sports in 2021 after spending nearly a decade with ESPN. Taylor hosted NBA Countdown and covered the regular season, playoffs, and finals for ESPN.

Taylor has been the lead host of Football Night in America since 2022. Taylor also works as a host during NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. Taylor will give up her responsibilities as the host of Big Ten College Countdown.  NBC will announce a new host soon.

NBC And Peacock Usher In New Era For The NBA

The NBA is set to begin a new era.

The NBA signed 11-year contracts worth $75 billion with Disney, Amazon, and NBC. These media deals start with the 2025-2026 season.

NBA and Peacock will begin national coverage of regional doubleheaders on Tuesday nights starting in October.

NBC Sports will then launch Sunday Night Basketball across NBC and Peacock on Feb. 1, following the conclusion of the NFL season.

Peacock will also exclusively stream Monday night games beginning in the fall.

Next spring, NBCUniversal will broadcast WNBA regular season and playoff games across NBC and Peacock. The company will also air the 2026 WNBA semifinals and finals.

NBC has signed several former players to help lead their coverage. Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller will serve as game analysts, while Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle will be play-by-play announcers.

Michael Jordan will be a special contributor.

NBC is also bringing back Roundball Rock, the iconic NBA on NBC theme song.
