Miami Dolphins Trade Deadline Updates on Waddle, Achane, Chubb, and Phillips

The Miami Dolphins picked up a big win in Week 8 to move their record to 2-6, but they might still be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline. There are a handful of players that have been rumored to be available for the right price, but will Miami pull the trigger on any of them within the next week?

NFL Insider Predicts That Dolphins Will Trade A Pass Rusher

Their top two pass rushers have been the subjects of the most rumors. Miami entered the season with what was thought to be one of the better defensive front lines in the NFL, and they certainly have talent. But the unit has struggled as a whole, and the Dolphins could look to move off of the contracts of Bradley Chubb or Jaelan Phillips.

Chubb joined the team via trade in 2022, and has been productive in the time that he’s been on the field. In 2023, he racked up 11 sacks and led the league in forced fumbles with 6, but suffered a torn ACL towards the end of the year that caused him to miss all of 2024. He appears to be fully recovered, as he has played in all eight games so far this year.

If the Dolphins are planning on any kind of rebuild starting next offseason, Chubb should be one of the first players that they ship off.

Phillips is a younger option that teams could be interested in. The 26-year-old has all the makings of a dominant pass rusher, but he has struggled heavily with injuries throughout his career. He played in just 12 total games between 2023 and 2024, and has been average at best in the appearances that he has made. But he is still early enough in his career to be a valuable piece, especially for a team needing depth or an upgrade on their defensive front line.

NFL insider Adam Schefter mentioned both players in rumor talk on Tuesday. He said that he expects the Dolphins to move one of their pass rushers, naming both Chubb and Phillips specifically.

The talk around their offensive players has cooled in recent weeks. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had been mentioned as a potential trade candidate, but the team seems intent on keeping him in the fold. The rumors surrounding running back De’Von Achane were quieter, and have seemed to dissipate completely.

The Dolphins will have some extra time to make a decision on any trades in terms of their schedule. They will be done with their Week 9 game after Thursday night, and the trade deadline is not until the following Tuesday afternoon.
