Micah Hudson Transfer Portal: A Return to Texas Tech Most Likely, Oregon & Utah Also Potential Landing Spots

Former five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson is back in the transfer portal after a whirlwind few months. He spent his freshman season at Texas Tech, transferred to Texas A&M in December, then stepped away from the Aggies by January without ever suiting up. Now, Hudson is weighing whether to return to Lubbock or find a new home elsewhere.
Hudson Likely to Return to Texas Tech After Transfer Portal Entry
Hudson’s path hasn’t been straightforward. After a freshman season at Texas Tech where he battled a knee injury and logged eight catches for 123 yards, he transferred to Texas A&M in December. But that stint ended quickly — he stepped away from the Aggies in January and didn’t take part in spring practices. Mike Elko confirmed he was no longer with the team.

Now back in the portal, Hudson is considering whether to return to Tech, where he knows the system and has a chance to start fresh.
Sticking with the Red Raiders offers continuity. Hudson wouldn’t need to learn a new system, relocate, or start over physically. He’d immediately step into a prominent role in Zach Kittley’s offense and likely lead the team in targets. If the NIL piece can be adjusted to his liking, Tech remains the safest and most practical route.
Utah’s Offense Has Room for a Playmaker
Utah was rumored to host Hudson for a spring game visit, but it didn’t happen. Still, the Utes have a clear need at wide receiver. Dorian Singer and Money Parks are gone, and while Utah brought in portal pieces like Otto Tia and Creed Whittemore, there’s no dominant WR1 on the roster.
The offense is undergoing a transition under new coordinator Jason Beck. That could be appealing — a fresh system with an open depth chart. But without a visit and with questions about Utah’s ability to compete in NIL terms, this feels like a long shot unless something changes quickly.
Oregon Could Offer Scheme and Exposure to Hudson
Oregon’s high-tempo attack is a great fit stylistically for Hudson. The Ducks have consistently produced explosive receiver play under Dan Lanning and have been aggressive in the portal. They also recruited Hudson out of high school, so the relationship is there.
If Hudson wants to reset in a high-profile system and doesn’t mind heading out west, Oregon can offer playing time, exposure, and likely a strong NIL package. The key question is whether mutual interest turns into something concrete.
Texas and Texas A&M Watching the Situation
Texas has a crowded receiver room, with Johntay Cook, Ryan Wingo, and Alabama transfer Isaiah Bond. That depth could make Hudson hesitate. Texas A&M might be more open, especially with the coaching turnover under Mike Elko. But after a brief stay in College Station previously, it’s unclear if Hudson would consider returning.
Where Will Hudson Go?
Hudson has options, but unless a top-tier offer with guaranteed playing time and NIL value emerges, returning to Texas Tech may be the smartest move. He knows the system, the staff, and the opportunity in front of him. For now, Lubbock remains the most realistic destination.
