Few MLB players bring a more distinct and instantly impactful skill set than Luis Arraez, and as he enters free agency, his market could stretch across both leagues. Although his numbers dipped a bit in 2025, he is a three-time batting champion and three-time All-Star, and should garner plenty of interest from teams looking to make an impact acquisition without breaking the bank.
MLB Rumors: 3 Possible Destinations For Luis Arraez
From clubs searching for offensive stability to those trying to balance a strikeout-heavy roster, Arraez offers a clean fit almost anywhere. Here are three of the likely destinations for the second baseman during free agency.
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels’ lineup has been one of the more strikeout-heavy groups in baseball in recent seasons, and Arraez is arguably the best bat-to-ball hitter in the sport. He consistently ranks among MLB leaders in contact rate, whiff rate, and batting average. Even without home run power, Arraez’s elite OBP would immediately stabilize the top of LA’s order.
The Angels often aim high in free agency, but Arraez gives them a way to make an impact signing without needing to overspend. He fits their budget tier better than some of the marquee names on the market, but still gives them a legitimate All-Star-caliber addition.
Seattle Mariners
Seattle has been one of the league’s most strikeout-prone lineups for several years. In 2023 and 2024, they ranked second in the majors in strikeout percentage, a number that they corrected slightly in 2025. But they were still in the top-ten in the category this past season, which is something they’ll look to correct in order to keep their championship window open.
The Mariners don’t necessarily lack home run threats; they lack hitters who consistently get on base ahead of them. Arraez’s elite on-base skills would provide balance to a lineup built around Julio Rodríguez, Cal Raleigh, and Randy Arozarena, and he could be an ideal table-setter for a team that too often relies on the long ball to score.
San Francisco Giants
San Francisco has struggled with streaky, boom-or-bust offense, and Arraez is one of the few hitters in the league who can stabilize a lineup on a nightly basis. He fits perfectly in a lineup that already has middle-of-the-order power, but is lacking in terms of getting men on base ahead of the home run hitters.
The Giants could certainly use some infield help, especially at second base. The position was manned mostly by Christian Koss and Tyler Fitzgerald in 2025, the latter of whom batted at a .217 average. Having one of the most reliable bats in baseball at the position in the order would help elevate the Giants, who are looking to make just their second playoff appearance since 2016 next season.
