The Philadelphia Phillies will be sending just one player to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, and they aren’t particularly happy about the lack of representation. Players on the team feel that some of their teammates are deserving of the honors this year, especially since Milwaukee Brewers youngster Jacob Misiorwski was named to the roster on Friday night.
MLB Players React To Jacob Misiorwski’s All-Star Nod
Misiorwski has had a hot start to his major league career. The rookie made his debut exactly a month ago, on June 12th. He was outstanding during his first few showings, allowing 0 hits in five innings pitched in his first game, and just three total hits over his first 16 innings of work. In those three games, he posted a 3-0 record, and had an ERA of 1.13.
The wheels came off a bit during his fourth start. Against the Mets on July 2nd, Misiorwski lasted just 3.2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs, and issued three walks on the way to his first loss of the season.

In a bounce back game earlier this week, he struck out 12 batters and picked up his fourth win in his first five career MLB appearances.
Those numbers, along with his hard-throwing style and deep bag of “stuff”, were enough for Misiorwski to be named to the NL All-Star roster. And while it is a feel good story about an up-and-coming star in the sport, there are players who many feel are more deserving, and some members of the Phillies are particularly miffed.
One of the notable snubs from the Philadelphia roster is Cristopher Sanchez, who made his All-Star debut last season. The pitcher has been even better in 2025, posting a 7-2 record thus far, and has a 2.59 ERA to go along with the 9th most strikeouts of any National League pitcher. But that apparently isn’t enough to get a nod to the Mid-Summer Classic this year, and his teammates shared their thoughts on the situation after Friday’s game against the Padres.

“What a joke,” Trea Turner, who is a snub himself, said. “That’s f**king terrible. I mean, that’s terrible, dude.”
Nick Castellanos was quoted saying that it “is turning into the Savannah Bananas.”
Sanchez has an incentive in his contract that pays him $50,000 for an All-Star appearance, which he won’t be earning this season.
There are other MLB teams that believe their players deserve a shot over Misiorwski, but the Phillies were certainly the most vocal during the announcement of the news.
