Caleb Wilson — Forward, North Carolina (19.9 years old)

Caleb Wilson Scouting Report & NBA Comparison

  • Offensive role: Transition Creator / Off-Ball Scorer
  • Defensive role: Help Rim Protector / Versatile On-Ball Stopper / Off-Ball Disruptor

NBA Comparison: Blake Griffin, Jonathan Isaac

Wilson’s size, length, vertical athleticism and plasticity place him in the upper echelon of NBA prospect athletes, a space Blake Griffin once occupied. If everything breaks right for Wilson, he could dominate offensively next to an elite orchestrator on rolls, cuts and face-up chances. Even if Wilson can’t unlock a star offensive ceiling, he’s physically imposing and instinctive enough to wreck games on defense like prime Isaac did.

Strengths

  • All-time blend of height, length and explosive twitch athleticism, nearly impossible to slow in the open floor
  • Exceptional defensive playmaker capable of out-0f-area rim rotations, contorts arms behind his body to nab deflections and steals, elite ground coverage
  • Rare hip fluidity and footspeed for size allows for point-of-attack versatility, comfortable blanketing switches
  • Godly dunk radius makes him an excellent play finisher on cuts, rolls and put-backs, on pace to shatter freshman dunk record
  • High feel playmaker, reads the floor well on the move and links teammates as a connective playmaker
  • Coordinated and fluid enough to execute simple dribble moves in face-up and closeout situations to attack the rim or find off-dribble jumpers
  • Extremely high-revving motor, never stops running around the court and inserting himself into action

Weaknesses

  • Limited on-ball creator lacking a refined handle, flexibility or shake to win against defenders without a screen or manufactured advantage
  • Weak outside shooter, teams sag off him and condense paint when he’s on or off the ball, but will settle for tough off-dribble jumpers
  • Reach and gamble-heavy defender, rarely sits down in a defensive stance, relies on elite physical tools to contain and create havoc
  • Inconsistent defensive awareness, will often ball watch and lose sight of off-ball assignments

2026 NBA Draft Projection: Round 1, Pick 4

NBA teams searching for a moldable ball of physical tools won’t find a more enciting option than Wilson. He’s more than just his athletic attributes, though, boasting the feel, mobility and defensive talent to reach star heights on both ends of the floor. His limitations as a creator and on-ball scorer may curtail his ultimate ceiling, but Wilson is as strong a bet this class offers outside of the top three.
