Carr, a highly-touted high school recruit, took some time to break out in college after two inconspicuous seasons in Knoxville. Now fully healthy, he’s starring for his new Baylor squad, playing like a bona fide college basketball star and a future NBA wing. At the most basic level, teams will covet his blend of athleticism and 3-point shooting in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Cameron Carr — Wing, Baylor (21.6 years old)
Cameron Carr Scouting Report & NBA Comparison
- Offensive role: Movement Shooter/Secondary Scorer
- Defensive role: Help Rim Protector/Screen Navigator
Trey Murphy immediately comes to mind when thinking of high-volume movement shooters with deep range and explosive athleticism, even if Carr is a bit shorter with more defensive potential. His unique combination of primary traits, off-ball shooting and help defense, make him tough to compare to, but 3-and-D players with volume movement shooting chops are often mainstays on elite teams (Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope)
NBA Comparison: Trey Murphy
Strengths
- Limitless 3-point shooting range off the bounce and off screens, constantly firing from 25-plus feet and beyond the NBA lineÂ
- Explosive above-the-rim athlete with excellent downhill speed and quick-twitch vertical pop, especially from two feet, excellent finisher with strong body control and contortion
- Blinding quick first step and excellent flexibility suggest tons of slashing potential as a closeout and off-screen attacker, improved handle allows for more on-ball utility
- Flashes weak-side shot blocking potential, covers long distance of ground to block and alter shots at the rim, blocks lots of jumpers on-ball
- Huge on-ball defensive potential with elite movement skills, agility, length and explosiveness, light feet around screens on and off ball
- High motor diving for loose balls, extremely physical and willing to bump stronger players despite size
Weaknesses
- Willing but limited playmaker without much live-dribble passing skill or high-level processing with the ball
- Settles for tough on-ball shots and can fall in love with threes too far beyond the college line
- Often drives too recklessly, throwing himself at defenders in the paint without much pacing or discernment
- Extremely frail torso and lower body limits ability to absorb contact, easy to knock backwards defending the ball
2026 NBA Draft Projection: Round 1, Pick 12-20
NBA teams will always covet projectable 3-and-D players like Carr, but the ones who impact winning at the highest levels bring more to the table than just spot-up shooting and on-ball defense. At his peak, Carr theoretically fits that description, adding explosive slashing, elite off-screen shooting and secondary shot blocking, all traits and qualities that help teams win basketball games.
