Yaxel Lendeborg — Forward, Michigan (23.8 years old)

Yaxel Lendeborg Scouting Report & NBA Comparison

  • Offensive role: Off-Ball Shooter/Secondary Playmaker
  • Defensive role: Off-Ball Disruptor/Forward Defender

Lendeborg could mirror the impact of older, skilled forwards like Keegan Murray and Cam Johnson, who have proven vital cogs on winning NBA teams through floor spacing and occasional secondary creation. That skillset might wane and become less useful on lesser teams without stars in place, as we’ve seen for Murray and Johnson, but it’s hardly uncommon for prospects to be context-dependent.

NBA Comparison: Keegan Murray, Cameron Johnson

Strengths

  • Has a prototypical blend of size, length and open floor speed, NBA athlete who weaponizes his tools on both ends
  • Much improved spot-up shooter, continually progressed throughout his career and has become an off-catch weapon with a high, quick release
  • Active defensive player with quick hands and great instincts, sticks hands in passing lanes and creates turnovers as a helper off-ball
  • Capable closeout attacker with enough dribbling acumen and passing vision to make plays for self and others in space, excellent off-ball moving and scoring instincts as a spacer and cutter
  • Effective paint defender in spurts because of size and length, strong instincts rotating to alter and block shots at the rim
  • Proven impactful in a variety of different offensive and defensive roles on different teams throughout his college career

Weaknesses

  • Fairly stiff hips and limited lateral quickness limit point-of-attack versatility, can struggle to cut off and mirror quicker players on the ball
  • Limited creator without off-ball movement or space to attack, struggles to dribble in traffic and create against contact on the perimeter
  • Lack of quick-twitch explosiveness to separate on the ball without a screen or advantages
  • Has just one partial season (so far) of excellent outside shooting volume

2026 NBA Draft Projection: Round 1, Pick 10-20

Lendeborg’s age likely will result in a wide draft range, as certain teams won’t have much use for an older, NBA-ready player like him and others will covet that as high as the top-10. In a complementary, 3-and-D forward role, he has the makings of a winning NBA player with enough offensive versatility and size to add more value in high-leverage moments.
