NBA Rumors: Fatigue Could Become An Issue For Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past month. They have a 14-2 record with Jimmy Butler in the lineup, and have used that streak to boost all the way up into the #6 spot in the Western Conference. But there may start to be a lingering issue with superstar Steph Curry, which head coach Steve Kerr alluded to after the team’s tough loss to the Nuggets on Monday night.
Steph Curry Could Sit Out Tuesday Against Bucks
There were some wondering if Curry should have sat out for the game against Denver. The Nuggets were without both Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, which made the Warriors 12.5-point favorites for the contest. The thought was that Golden State could compete against a shorthanded team even without their leading scorer, and would enable Curry to get some much-needed rest on the front end of a back-to-back.
In retrospect, he probably should have sat out. Even with Curry in the lineup, the Warriors struggled mightily against Denver, losing 114-105 in what turned out to be an impressive upset by the visiting Nuggets. Steph had arguably the least-efficient game of the NBA season, as he made just 6 of his 21 field goal attempts, turned the ball over 7 times, and missed 10 of 14 three pointers.
In his press conference after the game, Kerr was asked about his star player’s potential fatigue. The coach used the words “tired” and “exhausted” when describing Curry’s current state, and said that Steph had been “carrying us for a month.”

There has been plenty of burden that has fallen on Curry’s shoulders during the current campaign. It has been a rollercoaster of a season for the Warriors, and the now-37-year-old has been doing much of the heavy lifting when it comes to keeping his team in contention. He hasn’t missed a game since late January, and has scored 25+ points in 15 of the 22 contests in that span.
Even with Butler in the fold, it has been a tough and exhausting slog for Steph Curry. The Warriors are fighting to remain in the 6th spot in the playoff push, but may need to start monitoring his minutes in order to maximize his availability for the postseason. That could very well be the case on Tuesday night, as Golden State is set to take on the tough Milwaukee Bucks, a game that Kerr acknowledged they might sit Curry for.
