Nets Trade Rumors: Insiders Say There ‘Simply Isn’t’ A Market For Cam Thomas

After a 127-82 win vs. the Bucks on Sunday, the Nets improved to 7-18. The team is 4-6 in their last 10 and is currently 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Entering 2025-26, Brooklyn has the youngest roster in the NBA. The Nets are in a rebuild, but they still have talent on the roster. That includes SG Cam Thomas. He’s missed 17 consecutive games for the Nets due to a hamstring injury. Reportedly, the Nets will gauge the trade market for Thomas ahead of February. However, Brian Lewis of the NY Post said there “simply isn’t” a market for Cam Thomas.

Will Brooklyn be stuck with Cam Thomas after the trade deadline?

In the 2021 NBA draft, the Nets used the 27th pick to select Cam Thomas out of LSU. He’s been with Brooklyn for five seasons. While Thomas has grown into a talented three-way scorer, injuries have been a major hurdle over the last two seasons. During his 2024-25 campaign with the Nets, Thomas appeared in 25 of their 82 games and made 23 starts. He missed 57 games for Brooklyn last year.

That includes 38 of 40 games from November 27 to February 26. Additionally, Thomas missed the final 16 games of the 2024-25 season due to injury. The 24-year-old was dealing with a lingering hamstring injury for most of the year. In 2025-26, Cam Thomas is once again dealing with a hamstring injury. He’s missed the last 17 consecutive games for Brooklyn.

This offseason, Cam Thomas turned down a two-year, $30 million deal with the Nets. On top of that, he turned down a one-year, $9.5 million deal that would have required him to drop his no-trade clause. Instead, Thomas signed a one-year, $6 million deal with Brooklyn. Recently, Brian Lewis of the NY Post reported that there “simply isn’t” a trade market for Cam Thomas at the moment.

Injury history over the last two seasons is likely playing a factor. Cam Thomas’s firepower on offense is undeniable. At the same time, it’s hard to look past how many games he’s missed over the last two seasons. If the Nets are unable to trade Thomas by February, he’ll become an unrestricted free agent this offseaosn. According to Brian Lewis, Brooklyn trading Cam Thomas seems unlikely.
