The results of Super Bowl LIX were certainly unkind to the Kansas City Chiefs, but sportsbooks around the nation saw solid returns due to the victory by the Philadelphia Eagles. It was especially so for the betting outlets in the state of Nevada, who saw their highest ever gains in the history of the big game.

The Eagles entered the game as slight underdogs, as the Chiefs looked poised for the NFL’s first three-peat. But the results were lopsided in the other direction, as Philadelphia opened up a 34-0 lead on their way to an eventual 40-22 victory, though the contest was an even bigger blowout than the final score suggests.

Despite a large decrease in the total amount of money wagered by the general public from the year prior, the state of Nevada saw their biggest net win in Super Bowl history in 2025. According to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the state saw a profit of $22.1 million this year, its highest gain in eleven years. The previous high came during Super Bowl XLVIII, when the Seattle Seahawks dominated the Denver Broncos by a score of 43-8.

The large profit comes while the number of overall bets was down from a year ago. An estimate of $151.6 million was wagered in Nevada on the Super Bowl in 2025, which is more than a 20% decrease from the $190 million placed on last year’s game.

There are a couple of large factors that weigh into those figures, though. The 2024 version was played in-state, with Las Vegas hosting the game for the first time, and it featured a popular team from a neighboring state (San Francisco 49ers) that drove interest and money.

With the spread of this year’s game being one of the smallest in Super Bowl history, the betting on the outcome of the game was relatively well-balanced. But the state truly made their money on player prop bets, most notably the fact that Eagles’ running back Saquon Barkley failed to reach the end zone despite his team scoring 40 points.

The boost in winnings was needed for the state of Nevada, who saw an overall loss on NFL wagers in the month of December for the first time since 2012.
