Kiffin continues to have the college football world in the palm of his hand.
Kiffin is the top coaching candidate for the vacancies at LSU and Florida, all while he remains at Ole Miss.
Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that Ole Miss gave Kiffin an ultimatum to decide on his coaching future before the rivalry game against Mississippi State (“The Egg Bowl”) on November 28.
One day later, Kiffin appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and denied the report.
“Yeah, that’s absolutely not true. There’s been no ultimatum, anything like that at all,” Kiffin told Pat McAfee. “And so I don’t know where that came from, like a lot of stuff that comes out there. Like I said, we’re having a blast. I love it here.”
On Friday, Ole Miss provided clarity on the impending decision. Athletic director Keith Carter revealed that Kiffin will coach in the Egg Bowl, and a decision on his future will be announced next week.
“Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce,” Carter wrote in a statement. “While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important — our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion. Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday’s game. This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it’s imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead. An announcement on Coach Kiffin’s future is expected the Saturday following the game.”

Ole Miss is in the midst of a terrific season, which makes the Kiffin saga much more complicated.
Ole Miss is ranked No. 6 with a 10-1 record. The Rebels have a bye this weekend before facing Mississippi State on Nov. 28.
If Ole Miss wins that game, they will be in the College Football Playoff.
Would Ole Miss be willing to let Kiffin still coach in the playoff if he decides to depart for LSU or Florida? It’s unlikely, so there is a scenario where Ole Miss enters the CFP with an interim head coach.
